Terms of use and privacy for the Atlas beta

Version 1.4 · Updated on

01 Scope of the Atlas

KatavMD is the name of the platform. Its Atlas is an open-access section that allows exploration of a selection of the biomedical knowledge graph (KG) through diagrammatic views. The platform belongs to NEORA SYSTEMS, S.EP., the holding company and operating entity of KatavMD.

Business contact: admin@katavmd.com · +507 6762-4910.

Location: Punta Pacífica, Panama City, Republic of Panama.

The designation “Public Beta” and these terms refer exclusively to the public KatavMD Atlas, not to the holding company's activities as a whole. Research functions, case analysis or future services described in the white paper must not be interpreted as features already available or validated in this version.

02 Educational information, not clinical instructions

The Atlas does not provide individual patient assessment or replace professional judgment, medical history, physical examination or applicable guidelines and protocols. Its diagrams do not constitute personalized recommendations for diagnosis, treatment, prescribing or dosage.

Before using any information in someone's care, it must be checked against primary sources, current guidelines and the relevant clinical context. Every clinical decision must be based on independent professional assessment, relevant sources and applicable protocols.

If you are a patient, do not start, stop or modify a treatment based on these diagrams. The Atlas is not a medical care or emergency service.

03 How to interpret the diagrams

A connection represents a relationship documented in the KG within a defined scope. It does not necessarily imply causality, certainty, frequency or a mandatory sequence. An association or clinical presentation does not mean that one event produces another.

Conditions, restrictions and sources may appear in the notes. A simplified map may omit details; the absence of a node or arrow does not demonstrate the absence of that entity or relationship in medicine. Combining pathways does not calculate probabilities or demonstrate combined effects either.

The term canonical, when used for a key or ID, describes its identity within KatavMD. It does not mean that its content constitutes medical consensus, an official classification or an authorized clinical recommendation.

04 An evolving beta

Content and views are under development. There may be errors, omissions, simplifications, outdated information or display failures. Completeness, accuracy in every case, suitability for a specific clinical decision and uninterrupted availability are not guaranteed.

The statuses “Available”, “Publishing” and “Under construction” indicate the progress of Atlas views; they do not certify clinical validation or complete coverage of medical knowledge. Diagrams and shared links may change when content is updated.

These terms do not exclude rights or liabilities that cannot be limited under applicable law.

05 Sources, review and corrections

Where available, notes allow you to consult the scope and references of a relationship. A citation does not imply its author's endorsement of KatavMD or guarantee that the diagram captures every qualification in the source. Linked sites have their own terms.

If you find an error, use Feedback or write to admin@katavmd.com, specifying the view and the point you would like reviewed. Feedback is reviewed manually; this channel does not provide medical advice or handle emergencies.

06 Sharing and respecting rights

You may share links to views and reproduce screenshots of diagrams in classes, presentations, educational materials and academic discussions for noncommercial purposes, under these conditions:

Attribution example: “Source: KatavMD Atlas · [link to view] · Accessed: [date] · Educational beta”.

Open access to the Atlas does not transfer rights to the software, brand or original organization of the content. This screenshot permission does not authorize bulk extraction or republication of the KG or grant a license to the software or brand. Third-party sources and components retain their own rights and licenses; permission is limited to material for which KatavMD can grant it. For commercial uses or other authorizations, write to admin@katavmd.com.

07 Feedback, updates and personal data

Do not send records, identifiable clinical images or patients' personal data through Feedback, email or shared links. The public Atlas beta is not intended to receive or manage medical records.

The Feedback and updates buttons prepare a message that you decide whether to send from your email account. If you send it, the team receives your address, the message content and, if you include it, the reference view in order to handle your request.

The updates list is voluntary and managed manually. It is used for notices about Atlas updates and new KatavMD features. You can unsubscribe by replying to a notice or writing to admin@katavmd.com with the subject “Unsubscribe from updates”.

Cloudflare Email Routing, Gmail and SMTP2GO are used to receive and reply to these emails. These services process the message and the data needed to deliver it under their own terms. Do not include confidential information in messages or links you share.

08 Site access and technical logs

When a page is requested, the infrastructure receives the IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested resource and the headers sent by the browser, which may include information about the browser or device. Receiving these data to handle the connection does not mean that all of them are kept in a permanent log.

Public hosting uses Google Firebase Hosting. Google states that this service retains IP addresses for a few months to detect abuse and provide technical usage information. See its privacy documentation. These operational logs are distinct from a visitor tracking tool.

The Atlas backend uses Google Cloud Run and a private PostgreSQL database in Google Cloud SQL, in the us-central1 region. Cloud Run and Cloud Logging maintain technical request and error logs for operation and security; these may include IP address, date, requested resource and browser. The application's own logs omit bodies, credentials and SQL text. Navigation measurement through GA4 is described in the next section.

Cloudflare manages the domain's DNS. In the current configuration, it does not act as a proxy for Atlas web traffic. Hosting and email providers may process information outside Panama; storage exclusively within that country is not promised.

09 Cookies, preferences and analytics

If you choose “Allow measurement”, the Atlas loads Google Analytics 4 to measure visits and navigation: views opened, node selection and expansion, use of sharing, opening the white paper and intent to contact. Google may use cookies and technical browser information to produce these statistics. We do not incorporate advertising, Google Signals, advertising personalization or session recordings.

Atlas instrumentation does not send node names or IDs, free-text searches, feedback, email addresses or the full content of shared links. Recording that an email was prepared does not confirm that it was sent. Do not enter patient information in this beta.

To remember options such as the light or dark theme, typography and emphasis level, it uses browser local storage (localStorage). This is not a cookie and is not automatically sent to the server with every request. You can delete these preferences through your browser's site data settings.

Before your authorization, or if you decline measurement, we do not load the Analytics tag or send these events. You can change your decision through “Privacy and measurement” in the menu; withdrawing permission removes the Analytics cookies that this page can manage and reloads the Atlas to unload the tag. Your choice is remembered for 180 days. Withdrawing permission does not automatically delete data already sent; you can request information or exercise your rights through the contact listed below. Necessary hosting technical logs are independent of this choice.

11 Updates and contact

This document may be updated to reflect changes in the Atlas. The date and version appear at the beginning. New features that require specific terms must be accompanied by the corresponding information.
